(First translation of A Season in Hell to be published in America was the unsigned translation published in the July 1920 issue of The Dial.) Translated with an introduction by Delmore Schwartz. French and English texts are printed face to face. This is one of the 750 unsigned copies printed for New Directions in November, 1939 by Edmund Thompson of Hawthorne House. Book has bumped rear bottom cornerr and Newbegins bookshop label attached to inner rear board. Dust jacket spine is sunned with chips and tears to edges and a large tear to rear of dust jacket with overall age toning.
